On the 8th December 2006, Salvatorian Priests, Novices and Lay Salvatorian collaborators, celebrated the 125th anniversary of the foundation of their order by Father Francis Mary of the Cross Jordan. This significant anniversary was marked with a special Mass celebrated at St Lawrence Church Balcatta, and was followed by a dinner dance at Rossetti Function Centre.
Many people attended both occasions and the evening was voted to be most successful. Those priests who were able to join in the celebrations, concelebrated together on the altar with Father Boguslaw Losbika being the main celebrant. The homily was delivered by Father Leonard Macionczyk. He centered around the foundation of the order with special emphasis on giving thanks to God for the last 125 years of existence of the Salvatorian family. He encouraged us to lead a holy life and, with Mary as our model, strive for holiness and be a witness of God’s love to all people everywhere, and to proclaim Jesus as the only Saviour. The liturgy of the Mass was conducted by parishioners from many of the Parishes in which the Salvatorian Priests are currently working, and music was provided by St Lawrence’s church choir.
The evening before on the 7th December, two postulants were received into the Salvatorian novitiate to commence a year of spiritual formation and discernment of their calling. The two novices are Daniel Tolczyk and Bonaventure Echeta. This ceremony was conducted during a special Mass held at St Simon Peter church in Ocean Reef. The chief celebrant was once again the Regional Superior of the order, Father Bogushlaw Loska and the homily was delivered by Father Tadeusz Seremet who centered his talk on vocations and calling to the priesthood and religious life. He stressed the importance of family both immediate and extended in nurturing vocations in the young. Again Collaborators and parishioners attended this Mass in support of Daniel and Bonaventure and both young men were warmly received. Saint Simon Peter community prepared a light supper for those in attendance and a specially baked cake to commemorate this occasion was cut by the novices.
