In a meeting on the 14th of January 2011 with Archbishop Angelo Amato SDB (prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints), the Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI proclaimed heroic virtue of Fr Francis Mary of the Cross Jordan (John Baptist Jordan) founder of the Salvatorians.
"Heroic virtue" means that Fr Francis Jordan exhibited the theological virtues of faith, hope and charity, and the cardinal virtues of prudence, justice, fortitude and temperance, to a heroic degree. From this point the one said to be "heroic in virtue" is referred to by the title "Venerable". This is a next stage of Fr Jordan's journey towards beatification.
